Five Months with Ivy

We have officially entered what I affectionately like to call the honeymoon stage of this whole adventure… Now that we’re through the four month sleep regression (and that horribly long leap!) we officially have our girl back and it’s all sorts of glorious. She’s still waking quite a few times most nights, but it’s no longer an hourly thing (which was honestly basically torture for a little while there), and most times she’s pretty quick to fall back to sleep after a little snack.

In addition, I feel like both Justin and I have really begun to find our footing and our confidence with this whole parenting thing. I’m know for certainty we’ll have ups and downs as we go, but right now it feels like we’ve really gotten to know our sweet girl and feel like we’re really starting to get the hang of it all.

Five months, so far, has been my very favourite age. Most notably, our girl has started to say “mama” and while she probably doesn’t know what it means, it is literally the best sound in the entire world. I know I’m going to be be in trouble because every time she says it (which is all day every day as of late), I’m all “yep – take everything. It’s yours!”

In addition, she’s begun to roll over with regularity, is not so secretly obsessed with our dog Sage, and is starting to gain a little more independence. We can lay her down and she’ll happily play with her toys for good chunks of time, which has given us some free hands and some much needed freedom. We continue to be in awe of her and her sweet, albeit slightly demanding, personality and cannot wait to continue to watch her little world expand and unfold. It goes without saying that we are over the moon for our Ivy girl, and she is undoubtedly the best thing that’s ever happened to us. Here’s a peek at what we’ve been up to this month…
