This transitional dining room came together as part of a larger reimagining of this family’s home. One rooted in creating spaces that feel beautiful, functional, and deeply lived in.
Originally, this area functioned as the home’s breakfast space, but by reworking the main floor layout entirely, we were able to create a dedicated dining room that feels connected, open, and far more intentional for the way that most families actually live and entertain.

To help bring in as much natural light as possible, we opened up the back of the house with expansive floor-to-ceiling doors, and reinforced the existing skylight overhead. The entire space was then wrapped in a soft blue-grey that shifts beautifully throughout the day and adds the most calming presence.
One of my favourite details is that we were able to reuse and refinish the family’s existing dining table, alongside their original chairs. Proof that a thoughtfully designed transitional dining room doesn’t require starting from scratch. Layered with a vintage rug underfoot and an incredible painting by Diana Brambila, the result feels warm, relaxed, and quietly elevated all at once.
