Putting together these “interior design trends” posts is something I truly look forward to each year. It’s a nice way for me to sit back and reflect on where design has been, and where I see it going in the coming months. And while, like always, my design style tends to land on the more classic and timeless side of things, and feel like the word trend isn’t my favourite, it’s still important to be aware of what’s happening around me. While I’m noticing a ton of interior design trends this year, from the resurgence of all things Art Deco, to the return of terrazzo, following are my personal favourites – the ones I plan on incorporating into projects of my own.
PS: Check out my interior design trends post for 2018, 2017 & 2016. I hate to boast, but I feel like I nailed em’.
I’m seeing everything from jet black, to deep oranges, and beyond. And while I’m not certain you’ll see any orange marble countertops in my future, I am most definitely find myself drawn to bolder, more unique, slabs of marble, versus the subtle grey veins we’ve been seeing for years.

I was a little hesitant to list this one, as four poster beds have been around for literally centuries. But I’m seeing them near and far these days, and in a very big way. I find myself seriously drawn to the more modern variations, and will definitely be using them in abundance in the coming year, I’m certain of it.

From kitchens, to vanities, to furniture, and beyond, gone are the days of white on white. And I, personally, am thrilled. I find myself drawn to a lot more honey-coloured woods, too, which has surprised me. But alas, I’m into it!

The name sounds a little unappealing at first – almost reminiscent of the 90’s. But bear with me because I think this is something that we can all stand behind. For those of us who aren’t quite ready to hop onto the mustard-yellow-and-orange bandwagon that’s happening near and far, perhaps just a whisper of a pretty hue is the way to approach this resurgence of colour.

Hello! Long-time follower, not often enough commenter. This was an awesome post- thanks so much! I’ve actually been considering quite a few of these elements in our upcoming renovation- specifically the wood vanity in our master bath.
And are you sure no orange marble? ;o)
Now, you have me rethinking my guest room bed. A four poster might be the way to go.I like the sleeker modern look of those shown. The others I personally will pass on, but not for any other reason than they don’t fit my aesthetic.
