Beach Bliss: How I Plan to Relax for the First Time in 4 Years

Our yearly beach vacation is coming up, and I’m super pumped because it’s the first time in four years that I’ll actually have some moments to relax (to a point). My daughter, who’s now four, is at an age where she doesn’t need my constant attention. It feels like we’ve unlocked a new level of parenting or something.

She’s so much more independent now, gets engrossed in her activities for longer stretches, and often prefers the company of her little friends over wanting me by her side at every moment. This extra freedom is both strange and delightful at the same time (gah, motherhood!)

Needless to say, I’m particularly excited for our upcoming trip. To fully take advantage of it, I’m hoping to up my beach game this season, just a bit. I don’t want to jinx it, but I almost feel like I’ll be able to finish an actual book. With pages and not pictures! The novelty! Here’s my personal ideal “what to bring to the beach” list.

This sunscreen, for example, is an absolute must. Everyone is raving about it, and for good reason. It’s from a Korean beauty line – it’s super affordable and goes on so smoothly. I have it on good authority that the dew setting spray gives you the perfect beachy glow. And this sweater is a much more affordable version of a Jenni Kayne version that has a borderline cult following. Don’t tell but it’s equally as lovely, as far as I’m concerned. I also own these sunglasses already – they’re less than $20 and they’re a 10/10.
