Trimming the Tree (Plus Cute & Quirky Family Traditions)

Trimming The Tree | lark & linen

I’m always so curious when it comes to other people’s holiday traditions. We have so many in our family, and I’m so looking forward to introducing baby girl to a number of them next year. Trimming the tree is one in particular that we’ve always taken very seriously. At my mom’s, for example, for some reason we always had a bowl filled with jelly bellies to snack on as we decorate. At home, I always make sure to whip up a batch of homemade eggnog for Justin and I to sip on. But my favourite tradition is the one my parents started when my brother and I were born. We each received a special ornament in our stocking each year, and I still unbox each one fondly to this day. The best part is I had an arm-full of Christmas tree decorations in hand when I moved out, and our tree is constantly filled with so many special memories. I truly look forward to carrying the tradition forward with a daughter of our own.

Needless to say, trimming the tree has always held a special place in my heart, and I thought it’d be fun to round up some of my favourite tree trimming accessories if you, too, wanted to get in on the action. I’d also love to hear if you and your family have any strange, quirky, or sentimental traditions that you participate in year after year! I’m definitely taking notes.

I love the shape of your tree and the light frosting on the boughs. Is it a faux tree? Would you share where you found it? Thank you!

  3. C brown says:

Each year I buy my children and now grandchild an ornament that best represents the past year. When we decorate the tree it is always more meaningful and reflective. Also the angel does not go on the tree until everyone is home.

  4. Peg says:

Wait, is that you and Justin? You not pregnant with longer hair, and Justin with a beard? Hahaha!! xoxo
