How to Spice Up Your Front Porch Decor for Fall

For as long as I can remember, I’ve looked forward to having a front porch of my own to decorate seasonally. All day, around this time each year, I dreamed about transforming our own home into the likes of this or this. So when we first bought our home, it was all I could do to not begin scheming.  fall exterior decor_1

In truth, while we’ve tackled virtually everything we need to tackle on the interior for the time being (which you can check out here, if you’d like), our exterior is still in need of some serious love. We have big picture dreams in mind to potentially transform our (shoddily) closed in porch into a proper Victorian verandah, complete with a porch swing, naturally. And our 70’s inspired front door, while quirky in its own right, is just not exactly my thing. But if I learned anything from our mini kitchen transformation , it’s that there’s no time like the present to bring things back to life, at least a little.

So we started with those easy, low hanging fruit, tasks so we could start checking things off our list. We gave our front door a lick of black paint, which instantly made it feel more elegant. Next, we switched out our dated hardware for the Schlage’s Sense Smart Deadbolt keyless entry variety. And it’s, hands down, one of my very favourite additions to our home thus far. I never originally saw myself as a smart-home type of gal, but I’m telling you guys, this one has been a game changer. Not only does it look sleeker and sexier with its matte black finish, but I love that I’m able to leave the house without carrying a single key. Plus, on those days that I’m stuck in back to back meetings, my mom’s able to pop over with ease to let Sage out for us. It has improved our lives way more than I ever originally anticipated.fall exterior decor_5

We got those two items out of the way fairly shortly after we moved in, and they instantly upped our curb appeal game. I’ve since sat, rather impatiently, for the weather to show just the slightest hint of crispness so I could begin with all things festive.

And while I originally was trying to design a more monochromatic take on fall decor, lately I’ve found myself drawn to the classics. There’s just something about bales of hay, oodles of pumpkins, and deep pink mums that simply set my heart aflutter. And it was so much fun pulling this mini fall vignette together.

Thank you to Schlage for kindly sponsoring this post. And a HUGE thank you to my readers for supporting my sponsors. It means the world and allows me to continue to create more elaborate content for us all to enjoy.

  1. The Schlage lock looks great…as does your front porch decor. I’ve gone with white mums this year, but they look a bit ridiculous next to my summer geraniums that are still growing strong!

Love this transformation and everything you do!! Hugs to Sage! 💕🐶

Except for my own furbaby, Brian, Sage is seriously the cutest 🐕! I love the color scheme of the mum with the, sorry, is that a squash or a pumpkin?
