Though cottage weekends are always special in their own right, this one just happened to take the cake. My cottage in particular is typically filled with, at minimum, 18 of us as all my aunts, uncles, cousins and the like gather to soak in summer as much as physically possible. For whatever reason, this past weekend was somewhat of an exception. Family pulled every which way for a multitude of different reasons left our cottage virtually empty. With 6 of us in total (my step-mom, dad, grandma and two girlfriends), we had peace. And quiet. And a bedroom to ourselves! Never in my life can I remember this happening.
So naturally we took advantage of it in full force: we basically didn’t leave the dock for the majority of the trip (safe for trips out for ice cream: legit), and the lack of bodies meant midnight boat rides to look for shooting stars (we found two!) All this to say: life is good. And I’m still trying to figure out how to make this last forever.
