Whoever said that your ceilings should be white? I’m noticing a change in trends, gearing more towards experimenting up above. Applying a coat of jet black paint to your ceiling is a bold and graphic statement that, if executed properly, could have a great (read: inexpensive) effect. Naturally, it helps to have soaring high ceilings seeing as the dark colour will ultimately make the ceiling feel lower. However, a quick coat of bright white paint on your walls will help to bring the ceiling right back up again. The key to this is to maintain a neutral palette throughout the rest of the space. Throw out all the rules you’ve heard in the past and let your ceiling do the talking.
