You guys, I’m on a roll getting these smaller projects documented to share lately and am hoping to keep this momentum going. And while this one is a little different than my typical client project (read: I was mostly helping a really wonderful friend), I’m so thrilled with how it turned out and thought it’d be a fun one to share.
You see, this mudroom belongs to my beloved friend Jess (who’s also the most INCREDIBLE artist – you have to check out her work, if you haven’t already). And it was in need of an entire overhaul. The best part, is that Jess is incredibly handy and was able to tackle just about everything herself. From laying tile, to installing board and batten, to a custom french-tufted bench cushion and beyond, the woman did it all herself (colour me beyond impressed), and we’re going to share every last detail. But before we get to the full reveal, let’s rewind and take a peek at where we started…
Here’s a quick peek at where we began (and a sneak peek at the tiles we were considering!) A blank slate through and through, just begging for a little love.
And here’s a little peek at our inspiration. We were thinking fun and playful, yet timelessly classic, and we used a beautifully patterned floor tile from Stone Impressions as our jumping off point.
In addition to the bolder flooring choice, we decided to incorporate a little board and batten action, as a nod to the coastal bones of Jess’ existing home.
And last but not least, you know how I love me some whimsical wallpaper. Inspired by Jess’ new collection of floral art (here), we opted for something similarly elegant to top everything off.
There you have it! A quick peek at where we began. And I can’t wait to show you how this all came together. Stay tuned for the full reveal…

This is stunning!! A big mud room is literally one of my musts for the forever home (+ a little doggy bath area) lol. x
ME TOO!!
Oh, I LOVE it! We built our mudroom last winter in our garage as there was plenty of extra space there AND we brought our laundry up into the space. It’s LIFE CHANGING with 5 kids! I used the same inspiration images and the entire space came together exactly as I dreamed! Can’t wait to see your images!
Oh man I AM SO JEALOUS. We have no children but we desperately need a mudroom! In the next house FOR SURE
Really sweet ideas! A lot of inspo to take in
I’m so glad!
