Last Thursday, Justin and I snuck away for a quick weekend trip to Quebec City to celebrate his 30th. While it was no San Francisco (read: best birthday surprise ever), I have to admit that Quebec stole my heart in a way I didn’t expect.
Typically, when we travel, we like to hit the ground running. We love to go. do. see as much as physically possible, especially when our time is limited. But this round we decided to take it a little easier, and I’m so glad that we did. We splurged on a beautiful hotel, staying at the Chateau Frontenac, which let us justify spending a night (or two) snuggling in our king size bed watching movies in lieu of hitting the town, and treating ourselves to breakfast in bed via room service. When we did emerge from our cavern, we enjoyed sipping local beers in front of the fire in various stone taverns, ingesting more than our fair share of calories via poutine and steak frites, checking out the incredible ice hotel, and skating in the town’s centre. That being said, the highlight of our getaway was undoubtedly our afternoon spent dog sledding – an incredible rush that I can’t recommend highly enough. Here are a few snaps from our trip!
