Get Organized: Back to School

Oh man, it’s “back to school” time and I am in my feels about it. I usually only post a “back to work” type feature this time of year (as seen here, if you missed it!) But this year things are looking a little different for me. After a ton of denial, and more than a handful of tears, I can comfortably say that I now have a school aged child. I’m still not emotionally prepared, I can assure you, but we are here and we’re going to embrace it. Needless to say, I’ve had all things “back to school” taking over my brain for a while now.

side note: my fall shop is live

Since it’s our first time, I’ve been doing all the research and collecting all of the things. The labels, the backpacks, the lunch boxes – the bins to make packing said lunches a breeze. It’s been a great way to appease my inner virgo rising, and temporarily distract myself from the feels – I must admit.

A good friend of mine, whom has children a few years older, recently told me that she views packing her kids lunch as a little way to say “hello” to them in the middle of the day. So she always tries to make them a little extra sweet and a little extra special. I loved that notion and can’t wait to do the same.

I also picked up some of these matching heart bracelets that we can each wear while we’re away. The verdict is still out on whether they’re for her or for me (kidding – I know she’s going to love them. Currently, when we’re apart, I draw a heart on each of our hands to help her with separation. If you have or know of a velcro baby yourself, it really works for us- this felt like a nice upgrade).

At any rate, here are a few things I’m loving right now. For the love of back to school!

  1. Cat Backpack | 2. Stainless Steel Water Bottle | 3. Vans Old School | 4. Unicorn Lunch Bag | 5. Bento Lunch Box | 6. Snack Storage Bins | 7. Bentgo Lunch Box | 8. Shark Backpack | 9. Mini Sauce Containers | 10. Lunch Bag | Converse Runners

The heart bracelets are so sweet! I’m in the same boat with my child starting school in the fall. While he was at a school transition program I made matching friendship bracelets for us (just embroidery floss that I braided). It was nice because when he was nervous before school it gave us something to do together. He’d pick out colours. I found it relaxing to make the bracelets too which was nice because this can be a stressful transition for us too! It also then gave him something new to show the teachers when he got to school. Sharing this in case it’s helpful for you and your daughter. Best wishes with the transition!
