{12 months of dates}
Let’s face it, long weekends are usually fantastic if for no other reason than you’re given three whole days. But this particular one was significantly more special. Though Justin and I don’t typically go over the top for Valentine’s day, in an effort to save money this year we both decided to keep it even more low-key than usual. Having removed any unnecessary expectations resulted in one of the best days I’ve had in a while. It turns out, a stunning bouquet of purple and white blooms, some take-out pizza from our favourite pizza place and a bottle (or two) of bubbly makes for the perfect evening.
Though we agreed to no gifts, I kind of couldn’t help myself and ended up arranging 12 months of dates for us. To say that we’re busy these days is a massive understatement. Between my day job at Style Me pretty Living, keeping up with Lark & Linen, studying for my final licensing exam and handling my freelance design work, all while trying to balance a social life is tough – I’m not going to lie. I figured that making sure we had at least one full day dedicated to just us each and every month was a great way to ensure we still make our relationship a priority. I’m excited for what’s to come!
In addition, on Saturday my mom, sister, brother and I headed out to pick up my sisters’ wedding dress. It was a really special moment that I will forever cherish. To celebrate: sushi, wine, and cheese plates from Alex Farm (not necessarily in that order). All in all? A slam dunk weekend.
