If your upcoming calendar is anything like mine, there’s a good chance it’s stacked with holiday gatherings of all sorts. From family get-togethers, to ugly Christmas sweater parties, to potlucks and beyond, it’s kind of the best and I look forward to this busy season of life each and every year. And because gift giving is my love language, I tend to take hostess gifts a little more seriously. And while there’s absolutely nothing wrong with showing up to a party with a nice bottle of wine, sometimes it’s fun to up the ante and get a little creative. My new favourite hostess gift idea? The chocolate chip pancake kit. It’s one of those gifts that’s surprisingly affordable, requires very little skill, and looks like you stayed up all night to put it together. The reality? So long as you can cut along a dotted line, you are good to go.
For this particular kit, we teamed up with Green & Black‘s chocolate, which is legitimately one of my favourite chocolate brands (and I do not mess around when it comes to my chocolate). It really does add an extra special touch to an otherwise lovely gift. Plus, it’s so nice for your friends and family to not have to worry about breakfast the morning after hosting. Grab all the steps, including the (free) downloadable templates, below!
1 Mixing bowl
1 Tea towel
1 Whisk
1 Spatula
1 cup Pancake Mix (I used Aunt Jemima’s)
1 Cellophane bag
1 Tag, with “pancake mix” hand written
2-3 Bars of Green & Black’s chocolate in various flavours
1 Bottle of syrup
1 Recipe card, printed out on cardstock and cut along the lines (download for free here!)
1 Holiday tag, printed out on cardstock and cut along the lines (download it for free here!)
Holiday ribbon
Tree trimmings
No. 1 – Fold the tea towel and place it in the bottom of the mixing bowl, allowing it to peek out the side just a little
No. 2 – Tie your whisk and spatula together using your holiday ribbon
No. 3 – Pour 1 cup of pancake mix into your cellophane and tie with ribbon and “pancake mix” tag.
No. 4 – Tuck all ingredients, materials, recipe card, and holiday tag into the bowl so they’re splayed out beautifully
No. 5 – Tuck tree trimmings in any black spaces for added festive bonus points
A big thank you to Green & Black’s for partnering with me on this post. Thank you for supporting my sponsors! It means so much and allows me to continue creating lots of content for you
