Scenes from the Last Two Weeks

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

It always feels weird when I skip a “scenes from my week” post (like I did last week thanks to Good Friday). Almost like I have a ton to catch you up on, but not enough space or time to share all the goods. There have been lots of lovely developments around here as of late, but by far the most exciting is that we’ve officially booked our honeymoon! We’re going to be visiting…Tanzania for two blissful weeks in the sun and I am beyond pumped. All of our flights and hotels are booked, but we’ve yet to figure out our to-do’s – namely restaurants, coffee shops, and must-sees. If any of you have been I would love your advice! I remember poling you guys for our trip to Portugal last summer and it was the most helpful advice (if any of you are interested in Portugal you should definitely check out the comments in this post. You may also want to check out my recaps where I share ALL the details). In the meantime, I hope you all have the most beautiful weekend.

My favorite picture is the one from your Dad, those flowers are just beautiful and it reminded me how unexpected gifts, gestures, cards mean so much to our happiness! You have inspired me to pay that smile forward to one of my friends or loved ones. Thank you!

  2. Emma says:

Wow, your dad sure knows how to pick flowers. Those are gorgeous! How cool that you’re going to Tanzania, too. I’m sure you’re going to have a wonderful time!

I’ve been several times to Tanzania for work. I would recommend Arusha as a base for animal adventures, although there are some good parks in the centre of the country as well. Dar is okay for an African city. It’s a big country so plan to travel as much as possible by air. I went to Zanzibar a long time ago and the beaches were gross. But perhaps they have improved, and you can get plenty of info on those as it’s one of the most touristy spots. Tanzania is a pretty safe country so that’s good and the people are quite friendly. If you have any specific questions, let me know.

  4. Windows says:

I agree that Arusha is an excellent base… as much as it is a safe country do take the usual precautions when travelling there.

I’m so excited that you’ve chosen Tanzania as a honeymoon destination. It’s an amazing country..you’ll love it. Get good vaccine advice and good visa advice before you travel. If you have time, visit Zanzibar but don’t spend any more time than you need in Dar es Salaam. The Ngorogoro Crater is an amazing place filled with wildlife and perfect for safari, or a hot air balloon ride if you can.
