Scenes from my Weekend

{scenes from my sisters’ bridal shower}

This weekend was more than bittersweet as we celebrated ends and new beginnings all at once. On Friday afternoon we laid my grandmother to rest, and though it was incredibly difficult to say our final goodbyes, I didn’t realize how desperately I needed that closure until that very moment. Per my grandmother’s request, it was an intimate interment with only immediate family. And honestly, it was beautiful. Just what she would have wanted, I’m absolutely certain.

On Saturday, in dire contrast to a more solemn (yet equally beautiful) Friday, my mom and I threw my sister a bridal shower! The theme: a modern tea party, with an emphasis on delicious eats. We served whisky spiked peach ice tea, traditional high tea fare with a twist (cheddar cheese biscuits, early grey cookies…) and the most delicious raspberry chocolate cake from the best ever Toronto bakery. The room was full of some of my very favourite people, and it was, bar none, the very best way to spend ones weekend.
